Electroguard

A: Electroguard provides a polymer coating which contains vapour phase corrosion inhibitors (VPCI) specific to materials used on printed circuit boards. It provides extremely good protection in harsh and corrosive environments such as acid, alkaline, saline and solvent.
A: The coating is a high-technology semi-permeable polymer, which allows the release of vapour phase corrosion inhibitor to the surfaces of components.
A: VPCI’s combine with the oxide layer on the surface to become an active pH buffer and convert any corrosive elements to ph7 being neutral and eliminate the corrosive capability, either acidic or alkaline.
A: It depends on the film thickness of the dried coating and therefore the amount of contained VPCI in the coating. Usually many years of service can be obtained with 2 coats.
A: The environmental conditions should be considered - moisture content, corrosive gases and serviceability of the installation.
A: Senson coatings can be applied by brushing, spraying or dipping.
A: Senson coating can be thinned for spraying applications only. Senson recommends different thinning rates for different spraying equipment and techniques. Consult your distributor or contact Senson Technology directly for details.

Electroguard / Marineguard Grease

A: It is a specifically formulated synthetic grease to provide protection for surfaces exposed to aggressive saline and acid environments, including edge connectors, plugs and sockets. It is impregnated with vapour phase corrosion inhibitors.
A: Anywhere that an electro / mechanical connection is made. Plugs, sockets, edge connectors, battery terminals, earth connections etc. can be protected with these products
A: No – The grease is specified non-flammable. The grease is combustible and will burn just as a piece of paper does but it will not start a fire. The grease will greatly reduce the spark capability in the event of a short circuit and subsequently markedly decrease the risk of a fire starting.
A: Up to 260°C before it will start to melt and change to a liquid. The grease will reconstitute to the original state when cooled.
A: The grease is a synthetic compound containing Teflon and vapour phase corrosion inhibitors.
A: The grease is totally resistant to water and is used extensively in areas where the salinity exceeds 14-16 times seawater and high salt content areas such as salt producers in the Northwest of Western Australia.
A: The grease has been tested to 42KV at 2.5mm and is a very good insulator.
A: The grease will not dry out, harden or crack
A: No, the application of the grease will only affect the contact surface area and care should be taken not to install too much in plugs and sockets where the separation of contact surfaces can occur due to the “hydraulic action” of the product when plugs and sockets are re-connected.

Vapaguard Pads / Tabs / Strips

A: These are easy to use devices that provide protection to electronic and electrical units. They protect areas most susceptible to corrosion attack, such as edge connectors, plugs and sockets. They work by emitting gas molecules, each then condense onto metal surfaces providing protection against the widest range of corrosive contaminants.
A: The devices are designed and manufactured in various forms as pads, tabs or strips.
A: Pads are typically sized to operate for 12 months for each size produced.
A: Yes, Pads are sized according to the volumetric capacity of the enclosure but if longer periods of protection are required due to inaccessibility between maintenance periods etc. e.g. A 5 cubic foot enclosure could be protected for 3 years if a 15 cubic foot pad is used. This also helps to reduce the installed cost, as the 15 cubic foot product would require only 1/3 of the man-hours to maintain corrosion protection than a 5 cubic foot pad used in the same enclosure.
A: Yes, however if the enclosure is to be open for a long period of time the pad should be removed and sealed then replaced when the enclosure is to be closed again.
A: The Pads and Tabs are very inexpensive and will protect equipment of considerable replacement value, not to mention the cost of “downtime” and lost production caused by failures due to corrosion that is mostly un-detectable to the human eye.
A: Vapaguard Tabs and P2 and P5 Pads are self-adhesive and are attached to the cover or inside of an instrument or enclosure. P15E Pads can be fixed by the adhesive tape on the back of the label or by the enclosed cable tie if they need to be suspended in a cabinet. 1, 2 and 5 cubic metre pads are supplied complete with a document holder that is attached to the back of the door. This requires replacement of the pad only.

Amalgamating Tape

A: Senson Amalgamating Tape is a tough and elastic tape with very strong resistance to water and other liquids, which include a wide range of chemicals, including acids, alkalis, hydraulic fluids and vegetable oils.
A: To prevent the removal of Senson Grease installed in Plugs and Sockets, Battery terminals, Terminal strips, Relays, Senders, Light fittings and Fuse gear, where there is the possibility of High Pressure cleaners being used.
A: Amalgamating Tape has no adhesive side and needs to be stretched during application to create a complete bond to itself and other materials.
A: Senson Amalgamating Tape can be stretched up to 600% during application.
A: Senson Amalgamating Tape will not handle these two products. However, the application of engine paint or similar over tape used in areas where spillage of Diesel or Petrol may occur will protect the tape from any damage. It will improve the look of the connection, especially around engine bays and external wiring harnesses.
A: Yes, the tape has excellent dielectric properties of 4000 volts per 0.1mm.
A: Amalgamating tape should be overlapped 50% when wrapping connections and for equipment that has sharp corners care should be taken to ensure no ruptures occur. When wrapping battery terminals the tape should start on the cable insulation (approx. 25mm from the end) and continue all the way around the clamp/terminal, returning to the start.
A: The tape will amalgamate to butyl rubber, PVC, Polyethylene, EPR and most commonly used rubber hoses. All surfaces should be clean and dry before application.
A: This depends on the material and the temperature. As a guide the tape will amalgamate to itself in about 1 minute at 23°C and longer depending on the surface texture and gloss level of the other surface e.g. shiny PVC surfaces can take up to 20 minutes.
A: The tape can be applied at temperatures between 0C and 40°C and will operate between –95°C and +95°C. The self-ignition temperature of the tape is 15 minutes at 550°C.
